Overview

QHSE Support Advisor

Location: Manchester

Department: Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)

Reports to: QHSE Regional Support Manager

 

As a QHSE Support Advisor, you’ll play a key role in implementing Swissport’s safety management policies at a local level—ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment for all employees. You’ll be instrumental in driving continuous improvement and maintaining high standards across our station operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement safety management standards across the station

  • Lead monthly Safety Management and Employee Health & Safety Committee meetings

  • Report safety performance metrics to Station Management

  • Ensure accurate reporting and recording of hazards and incidents

  • Lead investigations into safety occurrences in line with corporate protocols

  • Conduct internal safety audits and monitor corrective actions

  • Maintain and update the station’s operational risk register

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Delivery of leading and lagging QHSE indicators

  • Achievement of compliance and assurance certifications

  • Effective implementation of the Swissport Global Management System

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in aviation ground handling or cargo operations (desirable but not essential)

  • Collaborative mindset and openness to diverse perspectives

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities

  • Passion for continuous improvement and service excellence

  • Personal integrity and professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications & Competencies

  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (or working towards)

  • IOSH membership (desirable)

  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene (CIEH qualification desirable)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in safety management or systems

  • Basic knowledge of UK safety laws and industry regulations

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
